You are invited to Field Guides an exhibition celebrating the Fieldhouse residencies in Parks
Exhibition Dates: Sept. 11 – 24 at the Roundhouse. Opening reception: Thurs, Sept. 14, 6:00 to 8:00 pm Field Guides 2017 marks the culmination of the second cycle of the Vancouver Parks Board’s Fieldhouse Studio program – an initiative that transformed former care-takers’ suites in parks across Vancouver into active spaces for community engaged creative practices. In each cycle artists collectives, food, greening and environmental groups are given three years of free access to Fieldhouse Studios in exchange for engaging neighbours, colleagues and curious visitors in imaginative, collaborative work in parks. Community-engaged projects like these are often interdisciplinary and ephemeral and don’t necessarily fit easily into a traditional arts or community centre setting. Field Guides offers a glimpse into this unique work happening in 17 parks across Vancouver and celebrates the variety of ways these inspiring projects lead communities into deeper conversations about living in the urban environment.
